Properly plan and organize the job.
Read and understand the label and MSDS for each product to be used.
Make sure that spray-booth ventilation is turned on and is functioning properly.
Obtain and wear the proper personal protective equipment specified by the product label/MSDS, with particular attention to:
- eye and face protection
- respiratory protection
- skin protection
Use the correct respirator for the job as specified by the label/MSDS and the respirator manufacturer. Follow the respirator manufacturer's instructions for donning, fitting, use and care.
- Each time a respirator is used, check to make sure that:
- all respirator components are in good condition
- the respirator is clean
- filters and cartridges have been replaced as recommended by the manufacturer and
- the mask is sealing properly on the face
Use air-supplied respiratory protection when spraying two-component systems involving reactive isocyanates. Make sure the compressed air supplied is "breathing air" quality. If a portable air compressor is used, be sure to locate the air intake in a contaminant-free area and maintain the unit (change filters, etc.) in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Eliminate all sources of ignition including smoking.
Have fire extinguishers and other fire extinguishing equipment available.
Follow-up the procedure specified on the label/MSDS in the event of a spill.
Follow good housekeeping practices. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Dispose of all waste materials in accordance with government regulations.
Maintain good personal hygiene practices. After use, wash your face and hands.
Follow the first aid procedures on the product label.
